HIKING TRAILS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Hiking has a long tradition in CZECH REPUBLIC. You will find not only long-distance hiking trails, but also pilgrimage routes. You may not have known it, but in our territory you will also find several routes of the St. James pilgrimage routes that lead to Santiago de Compostela or the Cyril and Methodius Route.
I would say that we even have a kind of “modern pilgrimage“.
In the past, pilgrims used to go for purely religious reasons, but today I would say that modern pilgrims are going on the road to seek hope. The hope of overcoming or clarifying something. Or simply to prove to themselves that they are healthy and energetic enough to walk the whole route. And why do I go on journeys? I think all of us pilgrims carry our own “shit pack” in our backpacks. 🙂
