ITALY
A land of pizza, fashion and gestures that has its own grammar
Welcome to ITALY, where history meets delicious cuisine and people can solve any problem with just their hands. Want to see where Julius Caesar said his famous “But I didn’t expect that”?
Italy is not just about monuments and food. Be prepared for the locals to give you a culture shock, whether it’s their passionate debates about football or how they can look stylish on a motorbike. And if you can learn at least the basic phrase “Un espresso, per favore”, you’ve won – the locals will love you.
Italy is a place where you can survive without a GPS, because everything you’re looking for is either “straight ahead and then left,” or lost among historical ruins. In Rome, you’ll think that life is actually quite short – especially when you’re waiting for someone to elect to place for you at the Trevi Fountain. In Venice, you’ll find that gondolas are romantic, but your bank account will never want to see them again.
And then there’s Italian traffic – a work of art of chaos, where traffic lights are more like decoration. Yet you feel more alive than ever, especially if you manage to survive the crossing.
Here, ancient monuments alternate with cafes where espresso tastes so good you’ll understand why Italians don’t need therapy.
For me, Italy will always be associated with the phrase “dolce far niente” or “sweet doing nothing”.
One final warning: Italy is so amazing that you’ll want to stay forever.
