CAMBODIA
Temple Paradise, Amok and a Past That Will Hit You
Welcome to CAMBODIA. There is a prejudice in many people’s minds that Cambodia is a backward country and there is no point in going there. But I think on the contrary it is a wonderful country full of nice and beautiful people and it makes a lot of sense. I would call Cambodia the jewel of Southeast Asia. And if I may advise you, get on the road as soon as possible, before so many tourists discover it! A destination where the grandeur of ancient civilizations meets hot rice and coconut curry.
A little known , but brilliant experience and unfairly overshadowed by Thai or Vietnamese cuisine is Khmer cuisine. Amok (curry in a banana leaf) is so delicious that you will forget all your dietary resolutions.
Discover Angkor Wat with me and when you see it in person, you’ll understand why it’s so famous. You’ll walk among the ornate reliefs while wondering what it would be like to build something like this without cranes and YouTube tutorials. And when you head out early in the morning for sunrise, you’ll discover Ta Prohm, a jungle-lined temple where you’ll feel like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft.
Unfortunately, Cambodia is also about sad things. Tuol Sleng and Killing Fields will show you the dark side of Cambodian history – a powerful, emotional and important reminder of how resilient people can be.
