MAINLAND MALAYSIA

MALAJSIEAs sung in one song “Truly Asia”

Welcome to MALAYSIA, where you’ll find cities that vibrate with life, jungles where you’ll meet orangutans, and islands where you’ll lounge on the beach like a professional sloth.

Malaysia is like a culinary paradise on steroids. Want Indian roti canai? Chinese dim sum? Malaysian rendang? Here you can order it all at once – and no one will judge you. In the capital, Kuala Lumpur, you’ll stand under the Petronas Towers and wonder what a selfie from the top would look like (hint: amazing). Add to that Batu Caves, where you’ll be greeted by cheeky monkeys instead of peace and quiet. Climb to the top (it’s only 272 steps, what you wouldn’t do for the gods) and you’ll be rewarded with the sight of a shrine hidden in the caves – and maybe a monkey trying to steal your backpack.

On islands like Langkawi, you’ll enjoy beaches you’ve only dreamed of so far – white sand, turquoise water and cocktails for pennies. And if you’re looking for adventure, BRUNEI

BORNEO ISLAND

Borneo will show you what a real jungle is all about. Orangutans, the world’s largest flower and a rainforest where you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into an Indiana Jones movie (without the dangerous traps, I promise).

Golden domes, luxury and no alcohol

Malaysia and Brunei are like two opposites that perfectly complement each other. Malaysia will stir you and satiate you, Brunei will calm you and make you admire the beauty of simplicity and golden domes. Brunei is an oil mini-state led by a sultan who seems to have fallen out of an oriental fairy tale full of luxury. Its museum, however, reminds me a bit of the footage from the movie “The Dictator“. Brunei has a slightly smaller population than Brno. I guess I was lucky and all my taxi drivers were women. I plan to spend only two days here. When I tell the taxi driver, she just shakes her head and says, “Two days? Then you’ll be bored to death.” And she’s right.
