Karel Jaromír Erben is our well-known Czech collector of folklore (fairy tales, nursery rhymes and songs) and poet, but also historian, lawyer, archivist and translator. He is the author of Prostonárodní české písně a říkadla, Písně narodní v Čechách (National Songs in Bohemia) and Sto prostonárodních pohádek a pověstí (One Hundred ProNational Tales and Fairy Tales in the Original Dialects).
