I was really looking forward to Japan, to finally discover the charm of slim Japanese women. Also, have you noticed that almost all Japanese women are beautifully thin? And how shiny their hair is, not to mention their skin. And did you know that they live to an average age of 84? I think there are a lot of daily rituals we should learn from them.
I used to think it was all their genes. But when I was in Australia, I found out that’s not the case at all. I had the privilege of living and going to school with them for a while. They are beautifully shot in skincare and diet adherence and follow the rules of a healthy lifestyle all the time. If you imagine any Japanese woman, she will most certainly have a slim figure, good hair and perfect skin. According to statistics, only 3% of Japanese people are out of slim figure. And they’re most likely to be professional sumo wrestlers.
Living by the Japanese manual is not a fool’s illusion. Of course, this is on the condition that you adopt the right habits and apply them both in your kitchen and in your life.
BE LIKE JAPANESE WOMEN ALL DAY ON THE MOVE
In Japan, many old people live in excellent physical condition, which they retain until they are a hundred years old. Movement is part of their lives. Walking is the simplest physical activity there is. If, like them, you incorporate walking for 30 minutes twice a day into your daily activities, you win. It’s good for a slim line, mental well-being, and it helps with cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure.
JAPANESE GARDENS
The Japanese “art of living” is deeply marked by religion (Shinto and Buddhism) and is therefore connected to inner balance and nature. In Japanese gardens you will find rock gardens, water, moss, a tea lounge or pavilion, sand and gravel, pine trees that represent longevity and paths that are ready to guide your steps!
BEAUTY OF JAPANESE WOMEN
When you look at pictures of Japanese women, you think it’s probably photoshop. But when you meet them in person, you’ll find that it’s not. No wonder women from other parts of the world are driven crazy by the beauty of Japanese women. So what is their perfection? There are many things that account for the flawless skin of Japanese women and one of them is the extra care they take for their skin. This is why their pursuit of the beauty ideal moves the world so much.
WHAT DO JAPANESE WOMEN HERE DO DIFFERENTLY THAN EUROPEAN WOMEN?
JAPANESE WOMEN ARE NOT ON A DIET!
Honestly, he doesn’t have to. Personally, I would say that the beauty of Japanese women is largely due to their diet. Consider that at a time when people in the western world were eating all gluten and most of their diet was meat, in Japan they’ve been eating rice, fish, healthy oils, seaweed and drinking green tea! Today, they just harvest fruit from the tree their ancestors grew. And we are just silently envious.
They eat their way to beauty, health and slimness. When I visited a restaurant in Japan, I was again surprised that Japanese people eat much smaller portions. I was a bit used to it from Australia, the Japanese eat much slower and savour every bite. They use small plates and take a lot of pride in the appearance of their food. Different dishes on the same plate is wrong because each food should have its own place. Quality is much more important than quantity for them. They eat the products that ripen at the right time of the year. In the shops everything is fresh, not like our discounts on expired food.
Another big secret is the fact that they enjoy their food. It may sound like a cliché, but in a society full of tradition, obedience and discipline, it’s probably no surprise that every meal is like a ritual for the Japanese. In short, they know how to appreciate their food. Well, yes, they do, and it’s disgusting!
FOOD
So as I said, the beauty of Japanese women comes from their diet. From our typical cuisine you will probably never have such a perfect, porcelain, clear skin without a single flaw, nor a slim figure and perfect, shiny, long hair. So you have to start from within.
WHAT ARE THEY EATING NOW?
Let’s face it, the Japanese diet is almost free of sugars, cheese and sweets. You won’t even find cold cuts in Japan. You will only find sweets occasionally, along with green tea on festive occasions.
SWEETS ARE ALMOST DO NOT EXIST
Dessert is a rare occasion and usually there is only a small amount of it. The Japanese have very different expectations of sweets than we do. They even have ice cream made from rice or beans. Japanese desserts are generally low in fat and low in sugar.
RICE
Pastries are minimal, but rice is abundant everywhere. I’d put it this way – rice is for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And why not? It’s very healthy and dietary. It cleanses your intestines nicely, benefits your skin and the absence of floury foods helps maintain a slim figure.
SEAWEED
Seaweed is simply a superfood, so I am sometimes surprised that it is not consumed much in the Czech Republic. It’s such a vitamin bomb. They are full of all kinds of minerals and vitamins – vitamin B12, calcium, potassium, magnesium or iron. You may have noticed seaweed face masks on our market.
FISH
In the Czech Republic, fish is not consumed so much and I think it is a great pity. It is clear that this is also due to the location of the country, but we should still include them in our diet at least 2 times a week. They contain healthy fatty acids, easily digestible proteins and marine ones plus iodine. It makes a big difference then if our body is made up of McDonald’s fats or omega-3 fatty acids. Legitimately, it has to show up somewhere, especially in the texture of the skin and the quality of the hair.
SUSHI
The Japanese love sushi. They also combine raw fish with seaweed.
GREEN
Almost 80% of Japanese dishes are based on vegetables. Japanese women eat mountains of vegetables, both raw and steamed, in the form of soups, salads and seeds. It’s the cheapest cure for most diseases and ailments. Vegetables are much healthier than fruit in terms of health benefits. It is simply packed with minerals and vitamins. They cut them to look their best and cook them faster. The advantage is that the food retains most of its nutritional properties. Vegetable broth is a popular base for many dishes. Japanese women are very careful with spices and try to keep the food light without putting excessive strain on the stomach, liver and kidneys.
GREEN TEA
Green tea helps fight aging, i.e. an old known thing. You’ll find plenty of drink ATMs in Japan, but all the drinks are unsweetened. Which is very nice. Because it contains tannin, the caffeine from tea is absorbed more slowly than the caffeine we get from coffee. And look out! The green tea here is not steeped in boiling water, only hot water will do. It has antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer effects and, most importantly, again helps with weight loss.
MISO
Miso is actually a paste made from soybeans that has great nutritional value. The nutrients in this paste are easily digestible, plus this paste is packed with enzymes. Enzymes are the most important thing in terms of beauty, youth and health. Their content in food is absolutely essential, which Japanese cooks know well.
MILK PRODUCTS
Dairy products are not consumed much in Japan. You can find them in the shops very rarely. Japanese women prefer soy-based products. If you are lactose intolerant or, like me, soy-intolerant, you can compensate for your calcium intake with almonds, nuts or leafy greens.
SKINE CARE
JAPANESE WOMEN DON’T TAN, THEY BLEACH
Without SPF, they hardly leave the house and thanks to this, they skillfully avoid not only wrinkles, but also pigment spots. They consider the sun’s rays their enemy. It should be noted that Japanese women are obsessed with porcelain skin. White skin is simply a symbol of femininity and fragility.
DRUGSTORE ON EVERY CORNER
Everyone knows that without good skin, even the best make-up can’t help the illusion of flawlessness, and Japanese women know this doubly well. Their obsession with skincare has been going on for a long time, so you’ll find plenty of crowded drugstores on every corner, and plenty of treasures in them. They have plenty of everything, so all you have to do is choose.
JAPANESE SKIN CARE SECRETS
Japanese women have always been and still are famous for their flawless and beautiful skin. When you look at them, you can’t help but notice that their skin just glows and looks youthful, regardless of their actual age.I’ve put together a few tips to help you achieve flawless skin. These simple and popular Japanese anti-aging skin care secrets don’t require much commitment because they only take a few minutes to implement. I don’t think 10 minutes a day will kill anyone. It’s never too late for a fresh start and you’ll see for yourself how you’ll look and feel younger again.
# 1 THE SECRET
USE A MILD SKIN CLEANSER
The more environmentally friendly your product is, the better!
Japanese women avoid products that contain a lot of chemicals. Instead, they use products with low alcohol content. They use milder products as emollients and the skin stays moisturized instead of being stripped of natural oils. Cleansing is essential for healthy skin because it washes away bacteria that could get into the pores and create cracks.
But only cleanse your skin once a day, otherwise your skin will dry out! The best time to do this is before bed, when you’ll rid your skin of all the dirt and pollutants your skin is exposed to during the day. After thoroughly cleansing, apply a serum and night moisturizer. If you also use softer products, this will help your skin retain a lot of moisture and thus naturally minimize the appearance of fine lines.
# 2 THE SECRET
THROW AWAY THE TONER AND USE SKIN SOFTENERS
There’s nothing like a good skin softener to add an extra layer of moisture to your skin Skin softeners will hydrate your skin and infuse it with nutrients. Unlike toners, which tend to dry out your skin, emollients lock in moisture and brighten your skin. The overall impression is smooth skin that looks very juicy!
# 3 THE SECRET
FIND PRODUCTS WITH COLLAGEN
Japanese women have a great passion for collagen products. I’m all Japanese in that way and I can’t get enough of it. I don’t know anything better that makes my skin feel younger.
When I visited Japan, I was surprised at how many such products you can find here. The big hit here are collagen drinks, cookies, masks, powders, supplements … Even gloves!
It may just be a trend – there is no concrete evidence that adding collagen to your diet works. But until some research is done to disprove my theory, trust me, it works!!!
# 4 THE SECRET
ANTI AGING FACE MASKS ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH
You may have already understood that the basis of Japanese skin care is to maintain a high level of moisture in the skin. The more hydrated your skin is, the healthier it is. Applying a face mask once or twice a month helps to boost moisture levels, therefore giving the skin the youthful glow we all wish we had.
Face masks are also available here. They are paper masks soaked with effective plant extracts and other nourishing ingredients. I’m honestly not going to lie, I have a lot of them at home too and I can’t get enough of this little miracle. I love pretty much all of them, and not just the collagen ones, but also the ones with slug slime or even the ones with tiger, clown or panda face print on them.
Rice flour face mask is rich in vitamin B, phosphorus and magnesium and has been used by Japanese women for thousands of years.
# 5 THE SECRET
GIVE YOUR FACE A MASSAGE
While many of us in the Western world relax in the evening by watching our favourite TV shows and eating popcorn, Japanese women use this time to stimulate blood flow (which minimises fine lines) by massaging their faces. Regular use of facial massage softens and tightens the skin if you incorporate a kneading motion. You can also use different rollers for this which can also be used for the legs, arms and abdomen Simply put, while watching TV by massaging your face and body you can get fabulous skin in the comfort of your own couch. And remember, massage every day!
WHEN THE WORST HAPPENS, USE PHOTOSHOP!
PARIKURA
Parikura are photo booths that are extremely popular among Japanese girls in Japan. You can find them in department stores or entertainment shops. And what’s so special about them? You can edit, modify and add lots of decorations to the photo you create. And what’s more, this machine can smooth your skin, make your eyes and mouth look beautiful. And your face will look like KAWAII! Well, why not give it a try!
Eastern culture has a lot to inspire and enrich me, which is why I love coming back to Asia so much. It’s up to each of us what we take from it. So girls, let’s do it! Do you have your secret recipe for beauty? Here it is! 🙂
